Suzanne Wong Scollon . . . email . . . Suzanne Wong Scollon is a retired linguistic anthropologist who writes creative nonfiction.  She muddled through a B.A. in psychology at Reed College in Portland, Oregon.  Then she married Ron Scollon, had a daughter named Rachel and did her M.A. and PhD in Linguistics at UH.  During a year of fieldwork in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta, Thomas arrived and now he has two sons with dual citizenship passed down from him.  Ron’s first academic job took them to the Alaska Native Language Center in Fairbanks, where they stayed five years, two at ANLC and three at the Center for Cross-Cultural Studies, where she taught in the Cross-cultural Educational Development program with students at a distance all over Alaska.  She and Ron taught the first course for university credit using computer mediated communication.  They moved to Haines, Alaska where they opened the Gutenberg Dump a bookstore that sold internationally by mail.  They co-authored 8 books.  Intercultural Communication: a Discourse Approach is in its second edition and will be going into a third edition soon. (04.20)
