Kaleo Toguchi-Tani ’20 just graduated from Whitman College in physics-astronomy. Graduating seniors at Whitman are invited to nominate teachers from the past who have influenced them in significant ways. Kaleo nominated Ira, and he was selected as the teacher to be honored this year.
Ira says that he always tells the students that they are his legacy. This is true. But it is also the case that students must be engaged in a class, and it takes a special teacher to do this. They may be Ira’s legacy, but he is, in a way, also theirs. It’s a two-way street, so to speak, as witness this moving tribute to him.
Congratulations, Ira, you deserve this and so much more for your 30 years of extremely dedicated service to all the Jr. Bows you’ve taught.
