Lilinoe Stupplebeen ’24

Class of 2024 grad Lilinoe Stupplebeen recently returned from Des Moines, Iowa, where she joined over 6,000 students in the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament. Lilinoe competed in Original Oratory with the speech that led her to be named Hawai’i state champion in April. Though she did not break out of the preliminary rounds, judges noted the poetry in her language and delivery and the significance of her message. One judge wrote the following on her ballot:

The way you are communicating with your subtly expressive voice, with your urgent yet quiet tone, with great pacing, with effective silent parts is simply rising you above all other speakers.

Thank you, truly, for your performance and your message – the most important one I have heard at this tournament.”

Congratulations, Lilinoe, and thank you for helping to bring honor the Jr. Bow ‘Ohana.
