“We have nearly 600 vacancies. We also have an additional close to 500 casual vacancies. So, PALS, seasonal lifeguards, school crossing guards,” said Department of Personnel Services (DPS) Director Cynthia Razo-Porter.

According to DPS, which hires county employees, the departments with the highest vacancy rates include the Police with 200 vacant positions, Parks with 78 vacant positions and Public Works with 64 vacant positions.

“This is an opportunity to grow,” said Department of Parks and Recreation Director Patrick McCall.

McCall said working for the county is a wonderful way to give back to your community.
