The Jr. Bows D-II basketball team beat the D-I Crusaders tonight, 67 – 64 in overtime. St. Louis is the D-I two-time defending state champion, and is ranked #1 in the state. Go Jr Bows.
As Jr. Bow Athletic Director Walt Quitan ‘88 pointed out after the game, the last time we beat a #1 ranked team was some 35 years ago, when Walt and current Jr. Bow Boys Basketball Coach Ryan Tong ‘90 were playing.
And I found out from Todd Clark ‘89 that Walt said this is the first time ever that we’ve beaten a defending state champion.
