Bill Teter: Call for Speech and Debate Judges

Here’s a message from Bill Teter — and new ULS Speech & Debate coach Alex Fox.

The 2023-24 Hawaii Speech League season is underway. As I suspect many of you know, I have retired from teaching and coaching. The Laboratory School Speech & Debate Team is now in the capable hands of Mr. Alex Fox.

Here is the rest of the fall semester schedule for the HSL. I hope you will continue to support the Lab School Speech Team by offering to judge from time to time. I remember how hard it was for me to find judges when I first began coaching, and I can well imagine Mr. Fox is going to need time to build up a judges pool. Please continue to help him and the speech team (not to mention the HSL) by judging when you can. As you know, teams are required to meet their quota of judges in order to bring a complete team to compete.

1. Debate topics will be the same as in the November debate tournament.

2. The program on Tabroom that schedules judges separates speech from debate. If you wish to judge this tournament, be sure to let Mr. Fox know if you wish to judge speech or/and debate.
